Limmud 30 Conference Begins in UK

Limmud Conference celebrates its 30th anniversary this week at the University of Warwick in Coventry. About 2,500 people from all walks of Jewish life and from across the world gathered between Sunday and Thursday, 24-30,2012 for the Limmud Event. Participants can choose from 1,200 sessions, including lectures, discussions, workshops, debates, drama and music performances, and text study. 23 sessions running right through the week will be broadcast online to share Limmud with learners from around the world.

 

Limmud highlights include Efrat Chief Rabbi Shlomo Riskin; Gaza UNRWA Director John Ging in conversation with London communal rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg; MK Miri Eisen, a former government spokeswoman and one of the few women to reach the rank of colonel in the IDF; Simcha Jacobovici, star of hit television program The Naked Archaeologist; Laizy Shapira, TV soap Srugim creator and director; and Robby Berman, founding director of the Halachic Organ Donor Society.

 

The list of performers at Limmud will include:

 
Onili, singer-songwriter Sam Glaser, The Levins, a Jewish folk and pop duo, Debbie Friedman, American Jewish composer, singer and recording artist and Basya Shechter - lead singer of Pharaoh's Daughter.

 

Over 200 volunteers have been working day and night in the harsh wintry weather to put Limmud together.
