The Generations program is a three-way collaboration among select community partners (such as a federation or BJE), PEJE, and AVI CHAI to transform the way schools fund their budgets by soliciting endowment and legacy gifts. With fundraising coaching customized for each school and incentive grants to reach campaign goals, schools will build their endowment funds—and provide an insurance policy for our Jewish future.
What Generations Offers
- Training and campaign expertise to select day schools in three select communities.
- Customized campaign coaching for each school.
- Incentive grants of $25,000 per school for meeting campaign benchmarks.
- Delivery of endowment expertise to day school donor market.
- PEJE L'Dor V'Dor Society national recognition society for day school endowment and legacy donors.
How Do the Three Years of Generations Work?
- A community collaborates with PEJE and commits financial and human resources to manage the program.
- School teams receive individualized coaching on endowment campaigns; local and national training on solicitation and stewardship, marketing, identifying prospects, and endowment best practices; and access to the national knowledge and resource center.
- Coaches and schools campaign teams craft a campaign plan followed by cultivation and solicitations.
- Donors may make endowment and legacy gifts and pledges; funds pledged must be used for endowment purposes.
- Each school creates individual benchmarks. The goal is to raise approximately $4K -- $6K per student after 3 years. After 10 years, as endowment giving becomes embedded in school giving culture, amount is expected to grow to $20K –$30K per student ($10m–$15m for a 500 student school).
Reflectivity will be integral to the program. Communities, schools, and coaches will all participate in knowledge sharing and evaluation.
