The Bible Project with Hebrew Songs and Israeli Dances
Source: The Bible Project
We are very excited to launch a new project we've been working on for many months, just in time for Simchat Torah - the festival of Celebrating the Torah. This year, the Sabbath reading of Genesis (Shabbat Bereishit), September 28, follows immediately after Simchat Torah the day before. So as we look forward to beginning a new year of the Torah reading cycle, we invite you to look at "The Bible Project", a new online resource which we're proud to introduce to you.
We hope it brings a fresh perspective to both Bible enthusiasts and song and dance enthusiasts alike.
“The Bible Project” connects Hebrew Songs and Israeli Dances based on words from the Hebrew Bible (Tanach) with their original sources.
It links to the weekly Torah reading (Parsha), or other Biblical section in which the words appear. It cross-references to the Jewish festivals and other occasions for special readings; and it cites the Talmud references where appropriate.
In addition, we've included some basic explanations of synagogue liturgy and custom under the headings of Aliyah, Haftarah, the Hallel Prayer, and Daf Yomi, the Daily Talmud readings.
