In its efforts to make Israel’s archeological artifacts available around the world and to share Israel’s archeological artifacts with the world, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) created the National Treasures Online website. The website shows off a selection of thousands of objects from the collection of the National Treasures. The National Treasures range from one million years ago to the Ottoman period. The site currently has approximately 5,700 artifacts and is continuously updated. In addition, new hi-resolution images of artifacts and new information are added to the site on a regular basis.

The artifacts on the site are arranged both by archeological periods (chronologically) and by the type of artifact (typologically). Each artifact’s information card has detailed archeological information about the artifact, including provenance, type, dimensions, material, site where discovered, dating, and bibliography.

The Israel Antiquities Authority recently began a major project to make hi-resolution digital images of and information about the rare archeological collections that are on display at the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem available online. This is the first time the entire collection on display of an Israeli museum is being photographed and made available online.
