Jewish Educational Leadership invites articles for the Fall 2009 issue focusing on teaching the Holocaust.

Sixty years after the Shoah we are witness to a variety of phenomena, both internal to the Jewish People and externally. A resurgence of anti-Semitic expressions and attacks on Jews, state-sponsored Holocaust denial, misappropriation of the Shoah and its images, the disappearance of eyewitnesses, Shoah weariness, postmodern apathy, to name a few, pose significant challenges to the Jewish community and its educators.

• Are Jews tired of hearing about the Shoah? Will Shoah education make it difficult for Jewish youth to identify Judaism with positive feelings?
• What does research on the long-term effectiveness of programs such as March of the Living indicate about their impact on Jewish youth?
• What should be the focus of Shoah education?
• What resources exist, for Shoah education on a variety of developmental levels? At what age should our students be introduced to the Shoah?
• Are there differences in the importance of Shoah education between Diaspora youth and those living in Israel?
