The Siegal College, Cleveland, OH is devoting its summer institute to An Educator’s Guide to Perplexing Times. The institute to be held in Cleveland on August 9-12, 2009, will be led by the full range of the Siegal College Judaic and Education faculty as well as a set of national experts leading intensive tracks.

Among the issues to be dealt with at the conference:

How do we provide for the needs of those hardest hit by the economic tsunami in a way that reflects Jewish values?

Which jobs and social programs in the Jewish and general community are most critical?

How can educators balance decreasing budgets and educational visions simultaneously?

How do we help our students develop a moral and spiritual compass during difficult times?

Visiting scholar tracks include:

  • Young Voices, Tough Times, Strong Values: Family Education in Early Childhood Settings with Vicky Kelman
  • Sustaining Jewish Environmental Awareness and Action in an Economic Crunch with The Teva Learning Center
  • Jewish Perspectives on 21st Century Ethical Dilemmas with the Siegal College Faculty
  • Addressing Evaded Issues in Jewish Education with Naomi Less

In addition to the intensive tracks, a variety of workshops and discussions will be offered.
