Gannopedia: Jewish Literacy Learning Tool
Source: Gann Academy
A new online tool is being developed by Jeffery Spitzer, Chair of Rabbinic Literature at Gann Academy. The literacy tool is a listing of basic terms and ideas that Jewish day schools such as Gann Academy would want their incoming 9th graders to be familiar with. The tool can be used in either flashcard definition, or full definition. Searchable in Hebrew or English, it also includes links for further study.
The tool presently contains 360 terms, classified into 15 categories. The terms are arranged in five different levels of relative importance. The terms may be viewed according to category and level of importance simultaneously. About 25% of the basic literacy terms are in the "Rabbinics" category. The tool also provides an online testing device.
