Pairing the Jewish professional education expertise of Hebrew College with the research and real-world resources of Northeastern University, Hebrew College and Northeastern's College of Professional Studies offer a Doctor of Education degree with a specialization in Jewish Education Leadership. This unique doctoral program combines online courses with on-campus instruction at Northeastern’s Boston campus and intensive summer institutes at Hebrew College to prepare skilled and knowledgeable leaders for Jewish education.

 

Course of Study

Designed for working professionals, the EdD is set up for completion in as little as three years. Candidates take 13 three-credit courses and complete a six quarter hour doctoral project—for a total of 45 quarter hours. The course structure is as follows:

  • Four foundational courses in current trends in education
  • Five core courses in education administration and leadership
  • Four specialization courses in Jewish Education Leadership
  • A doctoral project

Becoming a Doctoral Student

 
Hebrew College and the College of Professional Studies seek the strongest applicants interested in a high-quality doctoral program. Applications for admission are accepted on a quarterly basis, offering the opportunity to begin studies throughout the year.

 

Recognizing that cost may be a concern a special tuition rate is offered for practicing educators. Financial aid may be available in the form of federal, state, or university loans, grants, and scholarships.
