Areyvut: Teaching Jewish Ethics through Action

This article briefly outlines some of Areyvut's programs and describes how they emphasize practicing skills that help students choose ethically, exploring what it means to behave ethically, and putting students’ skills and content knowledge into a thoughtful context. FSU Summer Camp Blog 2010

In keeping with tradition, this year's blog posts will chronicle key activities taking place in their summer camps, located in 14 different locations across the FSU. This summer there will be close to 5,000 children and youngsters, ages 7 -17, attending the summer camps.

IDF Gives Cadets Taste of 'Cultural Judaism' in Tel Aviv

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is working to widen their cadets' perspective by having them familiarize themselves with the epicenter of Israel's secular experience: Tel Aviv. Participants in the IDF cadets course will spend a Saturday in Tel Aviv, where they will tour areas in the southern part of the city inhabited primarily by migrant workers and low-income families, along with parts of Jaffa.

Some Stats on Jewish Camps

Jacob Berkman reports on a press release from the Foundation for Jewish Camp giving a preview of preliminary findings of a major new research initiative which serves to advance the understanding of nonprofit Jewish camp’s impact on adult Jewish identity. Despite the continuing financial struggles of many families, nonprofit Jewish overnight camps are filling up! As in 2009, camps are projecting a flat or increased enrollment over last year. Camps are doing all they can to ensure that every parent is able to send their child to camp.

Current Trends in Jewish Teen Participation with Out-of-School Activities :A Survey and Analysis of Relevant Research

Rose Community Foundation of Denver, Colorado has released a report they commissioned to study Jewish teen participation with out of school activities. The report is a review of existing research. Among the findings: 'Jewish teens report the highest rates of any common U.S. religion of both desiring, and lacking quality adult connections with members of their faith.'
