In celebration of Israel's 70th year of independence, Hebrew College's Shoolman Graduate School of Jewish Education will be holding a conference October 28-31. 2018 focusing on the multiple dimensions of Israel, including its diverse people, spirit of innovation, Hebrew language, Israeli literature, culture, nature and much more. The conference is designed to expand educators' and professionals' expand their knowledge about Israel and help them develop skills to share their learning with students and families. Each day of the conference will be dedicated to different topics and audiences.

The Tikvah Overseas Student Institute invites gap-year students studying in Israel to apply for a series of seminars sponsored by the Tikvah Fund. The educational programs that make up the institute supplement gap-year curricula by providing intimate settings for interdisciplinary study, dialogue, and camaraderie with other select students. By exposing our participants to great texts, intellectuals, and activists, the institute aims to inspire the next generation of thinkers who can lead the Jewish community, informed by Jewish values and ideas, as we confront the great questions of our times.

North American Jews in a Year-Long Volunteer Program in Israel: Identities, Motivations, Attitudes, and Hebrew Language Proficiency
The study investigated a group of 68 young North American young adults who volunteered to teach English in Israeli public schools for a year in the framework of a joint project conducted by the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Education entitled 'Israel Teaching Fellows' that was inaugurated in 2013. Employing a pre-post design, the research explored their motivations for joining the program as well as the changes in their self-ascribed identity, attitudes toward Israel and its culture, and gains in Hebrew language proficiency and knowledge about Israel.

What might it look like for Israel to be fully integrated into school life? Some answers to this question are found within iNfuse, an initiative of The iCenter, which enables Jewish day schools across North America to engage in a system-wide process of “infusing” Israel into all aspects of school life. Over 12 to 18-months, schools seamlessly weave Israel into the experiences of learners, faculty, administration, parents, volunteers and other stakeholders. As in previous cohorts, the third cohort of iNufse schools engages learners from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Hillel International and The Jewish Theological Seminary Launch Joint Masters Program
The Pardes Center for Jewish Educators, Hillel International and The Davidson School of The Jewish Theological Seminary announced a formal partnership to launch a joint MA program in Experiential Jewish Education Set to launch this fall, the three-year program, designed specifically for Hillel professionals, will begin with two years at Pardes in the Pardes Experiential Educators Program, in conjunction with online graduate study, and a third year back on campus. Students will receive an MA in Jewish Education from The Davidson School and will be placed as Senior Jewish Educators at Hillels’ in North America upon graduation.

Jerusalem – The Jewish Capital: Then and Now - An Innovative Online Program Taking Students on Location to Find New Relevance in Ancient Texts and Sites.
Against the backdrop of moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, groups of Diaspora Jewish day school students went on location to examine a parallel scenario that took place 3000 years ago – King David’s decision to move his capital to Jerusalem. As they learned the relevant sections of Sefer Shmuel, they examined the geographical location and terrain of the city of David, as well as the archaeological findings discovered there, in order to answer the following questions: What were the political, religious, and security considerations behind David’s choice? Why did David choose to move the capital to Jerusalem when he did? Was it worth the risk? How was David able to conquer this highly fortified city?

Building upon the previous successes of the Institute for the Study of Modern Israel (ISMI), CIE offers the CIE/ISMI Educator Enrichment Workshop on Modern Israel: a five-day opportunity for educators and educational leaders to deepen their understanding of Israel’s history, politics, economy and culture, while cultivating participants’ skills in classroom application and best practices. After collaborating with experts and peers, and honing their instructional practices, Educator Enrichment Workshop alumni are uniquely positioned to foster understanding of the significance of Zionism and the State of Israel in Jewish and world history for generations of students.
