A Corner Stone: Building Education and Teacher Education Systems in Times of Crises and Changes – An Online International Study-Day

CASJE has curated a set of resources below that look at how these changes are testing education in a variety of settings, including: K-12 schooling, after-school learning, early childhood education, and higher education. Even though I do not possess medical knowledge, as a rabbi and social activist, I believe I can try to humbly prescribe ethical vaccines that can remedy jilted nerves and worried minds. My words are not meant to heal physically but to inspire spiritually. At this challenging time, it seems appropriate that those in the positions to (re)build confidence should do so. In that spirit, I am sharing thoughts on how we might be able to spiritually cope with the uncertain reality that has rapidly spread throughout the world. The coronavirus is not only a disease of the body, but also presents an existential crisis that has put governments, businesses and, most important, communities and individuals on edge.

After an initial emergency recovery, areas affected by natural disasters often fall out of the public spotlight, even when they still require significant recovery work. Recognizing that serious and effective volunteering opportunities interest large numbers of young Jews, Jewish Disaster Response Corps (JDRC) closes the gap between the Jewish community and the need for volunteer domestic disaster relief. JDRC brings multiple groups of volunteers to affected communities over extended periods of time.
