MOFET Online Academy Opens Registration for the Upcoming Fall, 2013 Semester
The MOFET Institute's Online Academy for Teachers has opened registration for the Fall, 2013 semester of online courses. The Online Academy runs two tracks of courses for professional development of teachers: The Online Academy for Teaching Jewish Studies and Hebrew and The Online Academy for Teaching Information and Communication Technologies in Education and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The Fall semester begins on October 13, 2013. Students registering before September 1, 2013 will receive a 10% discount on their tuition.
MOFET Teach 2014 – Education for Sustainability – Study Tour and Conference in Israel
On January 20-28, 2014 the MOFET International Channel will hold a study session in Israel on the topic of education for sustainability - MOFET Teach 2014. The encounter will comprise three parts: a study tour on wheels, a conference at The MOFET Institute and a visit to the International Cleantech 2014 Exhibition.
The True Story of JEDLAB: the Network That Needs You as Much as You Need It
Ken Gordon of PEJE, writes about the birth and growth of JEDLAB, the fastest-growing and liveliest network anywhere in the Jewish world. JEDLAB, a network of Jewish educators, on Twitter, Facebook and real life get-togethers, is based on the ideas of the MIT Media Lab.
The Consortium for Applied Studies in Jewish Education Releases Research Briefs on Israel Education
The Israel Education Working Group of the Consortium for Applied Studies in Jewish Education selected five areas of priority for applied research using the input and insight of over 150 members of the Israel education community. They recently published research briefs in each of these areas in order to help produce robust and applicable research in Israel Education.
'Sefaria' Open Source Online Jewish Text Site Could Expand Jewish Learning
The Sefaria Project is about building the future of Jewish learning in an open and participatory way. Sefaria is building a free living library of Jewish texts and their interconnections, in Hebrew and in translation. Its scope is Torah in the broadest sense, from Tanakh to Talmud to Zohar to modern texts and all the volumes of commentary in between. Sefaria is created, edited, and annotated by an open community.
In Krakow, a Dynamic Judaism without Walls Festival
For one night a year, Krakow’s seven remaining synagogues open themselves up to the public and host everything from a poetry reading to a symbolic multimedia walk through the seven gates of Jerusalem, from a photography exhibition to an Israeli-inspired hummus and grilled vegetable feast in a synagogue courtyard - The7@Nite Festival.
