MOFET Annual Educational Technology Conference 2012 – A Touch Away: The Information in the Class at Your Finger Tips
This year, MOFET Institute's Annual Educational Technology Conference, held at MOFET Institute in Tel Aviv on March 28, 2012, was devoted was devoted to examining the implications of the ubiquitous availability of information and communication at our fingertips on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices. Hundreds of conference participants heard presentations that examined the numerous opportunities of utilizing these tools to enhance and transform the education scene, and on the other hand, ways to avoid the educational and developmental pitfalls that they present.
Web Yeshiva Israel Semester
During the weeks before and after Yom Haatzmaut (Israel Independence Day) April 16 – May 11, 2012., the Web Yeshiva, the first fully-interactive Torah study program on the web, is offering a special Israel Semester of online synchronous shiurim (lessons) dealing with the Land and State of Israel.
International Fellowship of Christians and Jews' Lifeline for ORT Students in the FSU
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has provided emergency funding of $400,000 to assist World ORT’s network of 17 schools in the FSU region cope with students’ basic needs in the face of continued underfunding of the Heftsiba system. The money is earmarked for essential needs, such as school buses and hot lunches – critical services for schools serving Jewish communities scattered across large urban sprawls and teaching a curriculum that demands long days – and security.
Moreh L'Morim 2012: Lo Bashamayim Hi - Reaching Toward Heaven, Standing on Earth
Moreh L’Morim is a 4-day summer institute, held between July 15- 18, 2012, and devoted to Judaic and educational growth for Jewish educators. The conference is an opportunity to learn, network, explore, dialogue, create and engage with some of the best and brightest in the field of Jewish Education, Torah Study and Hebrew. Moreh L’Morim 2012 is held at Congregation Shaarey Zedek located in Southfield, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit).
