The Israel Education Ministry and Yad Vashem have unveiled a new curriculum to teach the Holocaust starting in kindergarten — the first time the authorities have provided a mandatory program for teaching the Shoah for the entire school system and every age group. The program, which will be launched the coming school year, was announced Thursday, a few days before Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day. The aim is to tailor Holocaust studies for each age group at a time when the last generation of Holocaust survivors is dying out.

The Joint Initiative Between the Government of Israel and World Jewry, organized by the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs in partnership with The Jewish Agency, is a historic joint effort to develop practical solutions to the greatest challenges facing world Jewry, with a primary emphasis on strengthening Jewish identity amongst Jews and connecting world Jewry to Israel. The online jam session expanded the conversation and enabled every individual, community, or organization to contribute their perspectives to the 'collective wisdom' of the Jewish people. More than 2,000 individuals took part in the online conversation, with participants hailing from all around the world. A group of professionals have analyzed the insights generated during the jam session and have integrate them into a set of recommendations that will be presented to the government for approval.

Details of the Israeli government’s plan to invest billions of dollars over the next two decades to bolster the Jewish identity of Diaspora Jews have been revealed to The Jerusalem Post by senior officials. Announced at a gathering of government officials and Diaspora leaders in Jerusalem last November, the initiative is a first in that Israel intends to formulate and fund programs collaboratively with Jewish communities abroad.
