The Israel National Trail (INT), the 1,100 km trail that crosses the entire country from north to south, recently became the first such trail to be uploaded to Google's Street View service, in honor of Tu Bishvat (the Jewish New Year of trees). The path was filmed for three months by 250 staff members of Israel's Society for the Protection of Nature (SPNI) and Google, and is now accessible to anyone in the the world using Google Maps. The INT was recorded by Google Street view using two Trekker cameras, which younger members of the SPNI carried on their backs. The INT was selected as one of the 20 best trails in the world by National Geographic magazine.

The giant newsreel archive, British Pathé , released its entire collection of 85,000 films in high resolution, to the public this week on its Youtube Channel. The films, dating from 1896 to 1976, include hundreds of newsreels from Palestine prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948. Among the treasures the archive published are videos from Israel's first years, from the time of the British Mandate into the late sixties. Some of the videos are narrated, but others are raw footage that was left discarded on the editing room floor.

More than 250 presidents and executive directors of Jewish Community Centers and JCC networks from 30 countries representing over 1,100 JCCs convened in Ramat Gan's Kfar Maccabiah Hotel for the eighth World Conference of the World Confederation of Jewish Community Centers. The four-day (November 2-5, 2009) event focused on the effect of Israel’s deteriorating international image on Diaspora Jewry and finding innovative ways face this challenge by connecting Jews to their community, to Israel and to the Jewish people.
