The MOFET Institute in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Education invites teachers, administrators and the general public to an online seminar in Hebrew about digital text books in the education system in Israel and abroad. The online presentations and discussions will be held via the Elluminate platform on Thursday March 14, 2013 from 10:00 to 15:00. Participation is through an internet connected computer, headset and microphone.

In recent years we have witnessed the entry of digital textbooks to schools around the world and Israel. As with any other digital domain, the digital textbooks are meeting with enthusiasm and great hopes on the one hand and fears and doubts on the other. What is a digital textbook? Is it enough to make printed text appear on the screen? What are the reasons for using digital books? What are the benefits and what are the disadvantages of using digital textbooks in schools? How should digital books be used correctly in the classroom? What is written in the professional literature worldwide and in Israel on the use of digital textbooks? What is the significance of the use of digital books for teacher training? These and other questions will be discussed at the seminar, accompanied by examples of successful attempts of the introducing digital books to schools.
