16th Annual Teva Seminar on Jewish Environmental Education

The 16th Annual Teva Seminar, sponsored by the Jewish National Fund, will take place from June 7-10, 2010 at Surprise lake Camp in Cold Spring, NY. Torah scholars, farmers, educators, students and scientists will engage in environmental sustainability, camping, gardening and other topics of Jewish Environmentalism. Participants will engage in a dialogue about the connection between God, earth, and humanity, gaining the skills to bring it to various educational settings.

 

Four curricular tracks are offered at the seminar:

 

Congregational Education Track: Bring Lively and effective Jewish environmental programming to your classroom, congregation or community.

Ethics and Texts Track: Study biblical, rabbinic and contemporary texts that address the relationship between humanity and Creation.

Camp and Wilderness Track: Teach Jewish values through camping, hiking, backpacking, drama and storytelling.

 

Organic Agriculture and Educational Gardening Track: Learn to design and maintain a thriving educational garden. This track is facilitated by the Jewish Farm School.
