To help you and your school advance your work with social media and video programs, this week the Avi Chai Foundation is launching the Jewish Day School Social Media and Video Academy website, which includes a powerful assessment tool that will help you identify what you’re doing well, where (and how) you can improve, and in which areas you should be investing your time and energy. The website also includes a wide array of resources: recorded webinars where you can learn to tell your story through video and develop strategies to engage alumni, helpful articles, award-winning videos made by day schools, and examples of best practices in social media.

Young Jewish adults with a vision to create cultural, spiritual, educational, service, and community-building projects for their peers can begin applying for a 2014 Natan/NEXT Grant for Social Entrepreneurs. Applications will be accepted through March 7th and recipients will be notified in June. Grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to projects that demonstrate long-term potential to engage young Jewish adults.

The Foundation for Jewish Camp is piloting a new program this summer offering some first-time campers discounts of 40 to 80 percent below the standard rate. Called BunkConnect, the program will make available 1,100 discounted slots at 35 camps in the Northeast, New England and Mid-Atlantic regions, the foundation announced Monday.

The World ORT organization for advanced science studies has launched the Anieres Elite Academy international scholarship program to prepare some 600 Israeli and foreign 10th-graders for an engineering degree at the prestigious Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. The program, the first of its kind in Israel, will allow students from the Negev to the Galilee to study science and technology in high school and, after seven years, complete an engineering degree at the Technion. The program provides a full scholarship, worth more than 100,000 shekels.

A group of Israeli youngsters are putting the politics of their parents and leaders aside and galvanizing to collect life-saving winter supplies for the freezing Syrian refugees of the region. Dubbed Operation Human Warmth, the drive is being spearheaded by the Israeli youth organizations Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed in conjunction with the social and education organization Dror-Israel, as well as Israeli Flying Aid, the Israeli global humanitarian organization that was among the first on the ground in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.

Beit Rabban Day School is offering a substantial discount to parents who enroll multiple children for the 2014-15 school year through its Tuition Affordability Initiative. The Upper West Side NY school, which serves preschoolers through fifth graders and is planning for a middle school, will allow families to cap their tuition at 15 percent of the household’s adjusted gross income, regardless of how many children are enrolled.

The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel (BYFI) announced last week that applications are now being accepted for the 28th year of this program. The Bronfman Fellowships selects 26 outstanding North American students for a rigorous academic year of seminars including a free, five-week trip to Israel between the summer of fellows’ junior and senior years of high school. The program educates and inspires exceptional young Jews from diverse backgrounds to grow into leaders grounded in their Jewish identity and committed to social change.
