Moishe House, a network of 25 homes throughout the world that serve as grassroots community centers for the young adult Jewish community ages 21-30, announced yesterday that they have received a four-year $1.25 million grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation (JJF). This funding, along with a grant from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation (CLSFF) made in September, 2008 will be used to enhance Moishe House’s core operations, expand its reach to a total of 34 cities over the next four years, and hire a full-time Jewish educator to support house residents.

This spring, BBYO will be admitting 10 to 12 professionals into its Professional Development Institute (PDI), a three year program where, in addition to doing leadership development work with Jewish teens in one of many communities across the country, participants will receive an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and a Certificate in Informal Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Boston.

Every 28 years, the Jewish community celebrates the return of the sun to its original place in the heavens at the precise time and day of its creation. This celebration is called Birkat Hahammah - blessing of the Sun. The next date on which we mark this moment is April 8, 2009, the day before Passover. This site, developed by a coalition of Jewish environmental organizations, is dedicated to help mark this amazing day.

The Jewish National Fund has dedicated the largest indoor playground in Israel in Sderot on Purim, 2009. The 21,000 square-foot state of the art rocket-proof Indoor Recreational Center provides Sderot’s youth with a place to have fun, connect with friends, enjoy stimulating classes, and be children, safe from Kassam rockets fired from the Gaza strip.

The first 2,500 Maryland teens who sign up at JVibe, the national Jewish teen magazine, will receive a free three year subscription to the bi-monthly publication. They will join Jewish teens from around the USA who receive the magazine for free thanks to the efforts of generous donors.

The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel offers a 5-week summer program in Israel that educates and inspires exceptional young Jews from diverse backgrounds to become active participants in Jewish culture throughout their lives, and to contribute their talents and vision to the Jewish community and to the world at large. Bronfman Fellows spend the summer before their high school senior year traveling through Israel, exploring their Jewish Identity, and engaging with thinkers, authors, artists, and educators in an all expenses paid, 5 week Israel experience.

Israeliness, a new program sponsored by Dor Chadash USA and the 92nd Street Y, launched in September, is aimed at Israeli parents who are living in the Diaspora but want to give their children a Jewish and Israeli identity. Israeliness activities are geared for children from birth to age 6, usually revolving around Jewish holidays and other Jewish themes expressed in music, arts and crafts, storytelling and play.

The Jewish Children's Museum, located in the Chabad-Lubavitch Chasidic community of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York, is the largest Jewish-themed children's museum in the United States. The permanent collection features exhibits designed to be both educational and entertaining to children, often employing cutting edge interactive multimedia. The six floors of the museum house an array of exhibits and displays covering Jewish history and heroes, holidays and customs, the Holocaust and contemporary Jewish life.
