CASJE (Consortium for Applied Studies in Jewish Education) released a request for proposals (RFP) to promote research that can make a difference in how Jewish education is practiced. Up to two grants up to $30,000 each will be awarded to stimulate time-concentrated research that is clearly connected to one of CASJE’s areas of focus, and that will apply to the practice of Jewish education. Areas of inquiry currently supported by CASJE include: Jewish educational leadership, Jewish early childhood education, Hebrew language education, Israel education, and the career trajectories of Jewish educators. CASJE’s efforts in these areas are all at the nexus of research and practice. Submissions for this award should be similarly conceived.
The deadline to submit a proposal is October 22, 2019. Awards will be made December 20, 2019. The selection committee is comprised of members of the CASJE Board. The research funded by the grant will be conducted within a continuous period of 6 months and completed within 12 months of the award. Studies will commence in January 2020 and should be completed by December 2020.
CASJE is committed to sharing knowledge to improve Jewish education. Upon completion of the study, grantees will 1) produce a detailed report and a summary report; 2) present at an in-person conference/s; 3) publish a practitioner-oriented blog/article in a relevant venue or produce a data-rich infographic. Additionally, CASJE encourages awardees to make data generated by their project available to other researchers for secondary analysis.
