At a time when the rift between many diaspora and Israeli Jews appears to be deepening, “the High School Twinning Program bridges the Israel-diaspora divide,” Isaac Herzog, the Jewish Agency’s chairman, told The Jewish Week. “It’s all the more important because it impacts participants during their formative years and lays the needed foundation for mutual understanding and lasting bonds”.

We are pleased to invite you to take part in an innovative online course for educators that are interested in developing School Twinning programs in their classrooms. You will learn about developing School Twinning connections in the Jewish World using innovative pedagogical and online tools that apply to the program. The course is in English and is suitable for educators worldwide that are interested in developing a School Twinning program and is also a wonderful program to use in the classroom to inspire students to improve their English/Hebrew, through communicating with students worldwide. The course opens on December 6, 2015 and includes ten units. A new unit is introduced approximately every two weeks, and the participants are free to study and complete tasks at a time that best suits each participant.

Throughout the 2013-2014 school year, JETS has been facilitating a unique program of online classrooms in which American and Israeli students collaborate on shared projects as a means of 'meeting' their peers virtually 'Across the Sea.' The TALI Shutafut project twins classrooms in North America with classes in Israel to enable the 5th and 6th grade students to share projects and review each other's thoughts, outlooks and opinions. The program is based on the TALI system's 'Friend across the Sea' curriculum which JETS has adapted for online asynchronous class work.

Jessica Jacobs recently returned from Israel where she was privileged to be accompanying her students on The Jewish Federation’s Tel Aviv-Los Angeles-Vilnius School Twinning program. A total of thirty 8th grade students from Kehillat Israel Religious School in Pacific Palisades, Shalom Aleichem School in Vilnius, Lithuania and Shevach Mofet School in Tel Aviv, traveled, studied and came together for 10 amazing days.
