The Wexler Oral American Jewish History Project

Originally released in hardcover form by Yale University Press in 2008, the YIVO Online Encyclopedia of Jews in Eastern Europe covers 1,000 years of Jewish history in Eastern Europe, with more than 1,800 articles on every topic imaginable — from religion to literature, and from politics to popular culture. This encyclopedia seeks to reflect all aspects of Jewish life in its variety and multiplicity. The YIVO Encyclopedia is intended to be an ecumenical work: nondenominational, nonideological, and nonconfessional.

Anne Frank's Secret Annex Online

The Anne Frank House museum has launched an online virtual tour of the secret rooms in which the Frank family and other Jews lived. The tour shows the rooms, which have about 1 million visitors annually, in great detail. Teenager Anne Frank hid and wrote her diary in the secret annex of a building in Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation. Anne and the other eight residents of the secret rooms were arrested in August 1944 and sent to Nazi concentration camps. Only Anne's father, Otto Frank, survived.

Jewish Innovation Foundation Awards $50,000 for “Jewcology” Project

Jewish Women on the Map

Just in time for Women’s History Month, the Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) has created On the Map, a new way to collect and explore Jewish women’s history using the powerful combination of crowdsourcing and Google Maps. A user-generated map, On the Map will showcase significant places in Jewish women’s history, including sites both marked and unmarked, familiar and obscure. Users can put their own stamp on history by clicking on a location and adding a photo and their description of the new landmark.
