The Jewish Women's Archive is a national non-profit organization based in Brookline, MA, whose mission is to uncover, chronicle, and transmit the rich history of Jewish women in North America. The Jewish Women's Archive presents the stories, struggles, and achievements of Jewish women in North America It has an extensive on-line collection of multimedia web exhibits on Jewish women, and a "Virtual Archive", a guide to archival collections across the USA related to Jewish women. The "Virtual Archive" contains descriptions of over 730 collections and short biographies of nearly 500 women who are featured in these collections.

 

The archive's website offers other resources in addition to the Virtual Archive; curricula and other educational materials, a variety of online exhibits, oral history guides, a blog, a growing collection of reminiscences of recently deceased Jewish women and many other resources for anyone interested in the experiences of American Jewish women.

 

Among the educational resources made available by the Jewish Women's Archive are:

Institute for Educators – held in Brookline, MA in July 13-17, 2008

Go & Learn – An online resource featuring primary documents and lesson plans designed specifically for high school students, adult learners and family education programs.

Women of Valor – Multimedia online exhibits highlighting the accomplishments of 16 pioneering Jewish American women.

Making our Wilderness Bloom
– a 200 page curriculum containing rich historical sources linked to Jewish values as well as a comprehensive guide to teaching about Jewish women who made history.

In Our Own Voices: Conducting Life History Interviews with American Jewish Women - a how-to guide for conducting life history interviews with American Jewish women.
