Areyvut's National Mitzvah Day, now in its eighth year, is an opportunity to get children, teenagers and adults involved in chesed (kindness) and community service activities. Schools, synagogues, organizations and individuals are all invited to participate in the program to take place between March 16 - 18, 2012. Each particular setting will determine the best structure or form with which to use the educational materials provided by Areyvut.

The theme for the 2012 National Mitzvah Day is "Olam Chesed Yibaneh - The World is Built on Kindness". Educational materials are available on the Areyvut website to help you address this theme, create a project, and incorporate Jewish sources. The materials include a project planning unit, example activities, Jewish texts related to service-learning, suggestions for follow-up and other educational resources.

Areyvut invites you to register a project no matter how big or small. Though registration is not required to participate, they encourage you to register so that they may share your project with others and inspire even more people to get involved.
