Educators in a Jewish Setting: Holocaust and Human Behavior is an eight-week online course, (October 11, 2012 - December 5, 2012), in which participants will explore the connection between Jewish History and identity along with the moral questions inherent in everyday life. Participants will learn multidisciplinary pedagogical approaches for teaching a course on the Holocaust that is grounded in a study of Jewish ethics and values.
This online course is designed specifically for educators who teach in Jewish Day Schools, Hebrew Schools, or other Jewish settings. We are pleased to be able to offer each participant a scholarship to cover the online course tuition. This educator training project has been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany.
This online course takes Facing History's core case study on the rise of the Nazis and the Holocaust, and weaves in Jewish texts and stories on relevant themes and topics, such as bystander behavior, obedience, rescuers and resisters, and civic participation. This online course includes a live conference call with a Holocaust survivor.
The online course may be taken for graduate school credit in sociology through University of Colorado - Colorado Springs for an additional $450. Graduate credit in education is also available for a higher rate.
