In response to the recently revised policy of the Israel Ministry of Education calling on high school teachers to create and utilize Facebook groups as a platform for learning, a group of Israeli educational leaders created a short Hebrew video guide for creating and using Facebook groups for learning.
The short video clearly demonstrates how teachers can create different kinds of Facebook groups and use them to foster communication, discussion, file sharing, survey taking and event planning for classes and learning groups. The Ministry urges teachers to use the Facebook social network, which is extremely popular with Israeli students, as a natural platform for learning. However, the Ministry still discourages teachers from becoming personal Facebook friends of students in order to protect the privacy of students and teachers.
