Three action - packed days of activity have finally finished at Kiryat Moriah in Jerusalem, as Limmud FSU Jerusalem 2010 came to an end on July 23, 2010. About 1200 participants from twenty-three towns and cities around Israel and from five additional countries attended 150 sessions, including 15 round-table discussions led by 250 presenters.

Some 2500 people came to the halls of residence at Warwick University, West Midlands, to participate in the week-long Limmud 2009 learnfest during the last days of December. The Limmud conference, the world's biggest Jewish educational get-together, offers the chance to sleep in university dorms and spend the day in lecture theaters listening to academics, rabbis and lay people presenting on just about every Jewish topic conceivable.

A Polish-language guide to Chanukah will be distributed to hidden Jews in Poland. Shavei Israel, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to strengthen ties between the State of Israel and descendants of Jews around the world, will distribute the free books this week through its emissaries in Poland. Hidden Jews in Poland lost all contact with Judaism due to the extreme anti-Semitism they encountered after the Holocaust; some even converted. Others concealed their Jewishness from the Communist authorities and now feel free to resume their true identity.

In a joint initiative between Hebrew University, the Knesset, and the Ministry of Education, Jewish studies experts from Hebrew Univesity will give courses to Israeli parliamentarians on the Jewish Bible. Professors Yair Zakovich (Department of Bible) and Avigdor Shinan (Department of Hebrew Literature) of the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University will arrive at the Knesset building, to begin a series of meetings on 'Personalities in the Bible and Midrash'. The courses will also address issues of leadership.

A new Hebrew University project called 'Scientists on the Trains,' promotes education on the rails as the institution sends out its professors to teach the Israeli public in transit. The idea kicked off this month, with the university's ultimate teacher, past President Emeritus Hanoch Gutfreund, who rode the morning train from Modi'in to Tel Aviv lecturing the public about the love letters written by Einstein and his wives.

Midreshet, a Hebrew resource, was created by the Israeli Bet Midrash Network, to make available Jewish learning resources for hevruta (pairs) or small group learning as carried out in Jewish halls of study. The site contains three hundred resource sheets created by teachers of the 18 pluralistic batei midrash in Israel covering a wide range of topics. The site also contains a digital wizard for creating personal resource sheets based on other resort sheets or a wealth of other resources contained on the site. Users can also upload to the site resource sheets which they have created.
