A new iPhone/iPad app uses advanced technology to tell the Jewish story of Oswiecim, the town in southern Poland where Auschwitz was built. The app is called Oshpitzin – the Yiddish name for the town.

The MOFET Institute's Online Academy for Jewish Studies has opened registration for the Fall, 2012 semester of online courses. The courses, in areas that are suitable for educators and leaders in the Jewish world as well as students in universities and colleges in the fields of the didactics and pedagogy of teaching Jewish subjects in the Diaspora, are taught via the internet, a-synchronously with synchronous components. The course developers and lecturers are all experts in their fields and senior staff members of Israel's top institutes of higher education.

In order to help meet the critical decline in qualified mathematics and science high school teachers, the Israel Ministry of Education will launch a new venture in September, 2012. The idea behind it is quite simple: students from schools across the country will sit at computers in their educational institutions participating in virtual classes in groups of 20 students, for about 3-4 hours per week. Similar sized groups of students will study with virtual mentors - who are outstanding university students - in the afternoon hours.
