Fifth graders from Beit Hinuch Ramon School in Shaarei Tikva held a virtual meeting through the Internet with pupils of the same age from Los Angeles' Tifereth Israel congregation's Hebrew school. The meeting was held with the aid of video cameras and the Skype application, to honor Israel's 64th Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration, which was last week in many U.S. Jewish congregations. Samaria regional authority head Gershon Mesika took part in Sunday's event. A recorded greeting from Yuli Edelstein, Israel Minister of Information & Diaspora was viewed by the participants during the festivities.

The Israel Museum welcomes you to the Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Project, allowing users to examine and explore these most ancient manuscripts from Second Temple times at a level of detail never before possible. Developed in partnership with Google, the new website gives users access to searchable, fast-loading, high-resolution images of the scrolls, as well as short explanatory videos and background information on the texts and their history.

Josh Lipowsky writes about how the day US school tuition crisis has spurred a search for new options and given rise to a new breed of day schools where technology and blended learning - mixing traditional classroom learning with online education -- are reducing costs. There are at least eight blended learning schools that either opened this year or plan to open next year, from California and Texas to Maryland and Massachusetts.

Legacy Heritage Fund is proud to announce the launch of the enhanced phase of Dah Bear, a free online tool which assists students in mastering Hebrew vocabulary. Dah Bear was released on a pilot basis at the end of the last academic year. Dah Bear contains over 1,200 word lists and is being used in the classrooms of more than 275 teachers in over 90 schools around the world.

At this second meeting of edtech passionate Jewish educators, the topic discussed was iPads in Jewish Education. The presenters came from schools with experience in using iPads in their classes and an Apple engineer.

This year, MOFET Institute's Annual Educational Technology Conference, held at MOFET Institute in Tel Aviv on March 28, 2012, was devoted was devoted to examining the implications of the ubiquitous availability of information and communication at our fingertips on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices. Tzach Rolnik tells of his 7th & 8th grade Bible Studies year - end project at the Kfar Hayarok School. He asked each of his students to review all the material they had studied over the year and choose a topic that was meaningful to him. The students were then asked to create or choose some expressive creation, i.e. a drawing, piece of music or poetry, comics, etc. and analyze it in the light of the Biblical narrative and their own thoughts and feelings. The impressive results were uploaded as posts to a class blog for sharing with other students, teachers and parents in the school as well as with the general public.
