Two national Jewish organizations have joined forces to establish the Jewish Day School Affordability Knowledge Center — a clearinghouse devoted to researching, analyzing and circulating knowledge and noteworthy practices about existing tuition-affordability programs and methodologies. The center is a joint effort of the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE) and Orthodox Union (OU).

The Israel Museum welcomes you to the Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Project, allowing users to examine and explore these most ancient manuscripts from Second Temple times at a level of detail never before possible. Developed in partnership with Google, the new website gives users access to searchable, fast-loading, high-resolution images of the scrolls, as well as short explanatory videos and background information on the texts and their history.

Hundreds of thousands of searchable documents and more than 45,000 photos are now available at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s (JDC) Global Archives website. Drawn from the humanitarian organization’s vast international collection, the online compilation currently represents materials from JDC’s founding in 1914 through 1932. Additional records are being added in the coming year.

JData recently published its inaugural issue of JData Revealed, a monthly newsletter with information and ideas from JData.com. Developed at Brandeis University with the generous support of the Jim Joseph Foundation, JData is a public repository of information about the organizations that comprise the Jewish education system in North America. This issue contains articles about the 2010 data from the world of Jewish summer camp----enrollments, budgets, staffing, and other data that define the size, shape, and health of the field. These data were retrieved on August 15, 2011. Note that JData is a dynamic system and numbers may change as more data are entered.

The complete 41-year archive of the journal Sh'ma is being released in June -- online, searchable, and freely available. The digital collection, launched jointly by Sh'ma and the Berman Jewish Policy Archive @ NYU Wagner, features the work of a vast array of Jewish leading intellectuals, including rabbis, scholars, educators, and lay leaders. The collection contains more than 600 full issues and nearly 4,000 individual articles, and includes the voices of some 2,000 writers. The Sh'ma collection is integrated into the general holdings of BJPA, a vast collection of policy-relevant research and analysis on Jewish life available to the public free of charge. Its holdings of over 11,000 publications span from the early 20th century into the 21st, allowing students, researchers, educators, professionals, and others to quickly and easily access the most relevant content.

Between 1933 and 1945, millions of children were displaced as a result of persecution by the Nazis and their collaborators. After World War II, relief agencies photographed some of the children who survived to help find their families. Now, more than 65 years later, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is working to discover what became of these young survivors. They have created the Remember Me? Website to allow viewers to search and view over 1100 historical images of children displaced as a result of World War II. Visitors to the site are encouraged identify the images and submit information about them and their families. Over 100 children's images have been identified on the site so far.

The American Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) has recently made available online an archive containing over 500,000 names, and more than 1,000 photographs in records of the relief organization's vast efforts during World War II and the postwar era in 24 countries, from China and Japan to the Dominican Republic and Bolivia. The records open a singular view into the lives of survivors that the JDC aided during that cataclysmic period. The collection of documents is searchable by the names appearing on them. The galleries of photos in the collection are organized by country and location where JDC worked during and after the war. Visitors to the site are requested to help the JDC identify the people in the images by adding identity tags to them.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) recently launched their Jewish News Archive, a powerful reference tool that offers a perspective on current events and modern Jewish history that is not available anywhere else. With free access to nearly a century of reporting about global events affecting world Jewry, the Archive will not only serve as a rich resource for both the casually curious as well as students and scholars of modern Jewish history, it will also transform the way the next generation of Jewish leaders and activists learn about their heritage.

The Zemereshet Hebrew website is part of a project dedicated to rescuing classic Hebrew songs from oblivion. The project focuses on Hebrew songs that were composed and written before 1948 and are in danger of being lost and forgotten. A team of volunteers has been at work over the last few years, gathering the words, tunes and recordings of nearly 3000 songs, making them available on the Zemereshet website as a database searchable by names of songs, composers and performers and subject matter. The site also contains a collection of popular and academic articles curated by Professor Shai Burstyn dealing particularly with the historic and cultural aspects of these songs.
