Bet AVI CHAI has presented a new memorial project on its website: Panim. Yom. Zikaron. The project aims to commemorate IDF's slain soldiers with short animated videos which illustrate significant moments in the lives of the fallen soldiers and their families. The project invites family members of fallen soldiers to submit written memories, which are then presented to animation artists to create short animated videos based on them. The videos and written segments are then presented in a special section of the Bet AVI CHAI website.

For families of fallen soldiers Yom Hazikaron is only a formal national day of remembrance; for them every day is a day of remembrance – a birthday, anniversary, last leave from active duty. Every minute contains shreds of longing. The Panim. Yom. Zikaron. project tries to harness modern technology to revive these shreds of memory and share them with us all, believing that these memories bear significance beyond one formal day a year.

Four young animation artists have responded to the request to commemorate these moments of meeting and grace. Their work and the families' written memories are presented here. The project directors hope that this initial effort will be the beginning of a large, constantly growing, collection of virtual Israeli memories to be shared with the public.
