The Melton Centre of Jewish Education of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem has announced a new distance learning Master's degree track. Taught entirely in English, the program offers students from around the world the chance to earn a master’s degree in Jewish education in just one year of study with a 6-week semester in Jerusalem. Now the Melton Centre is providing international students with the opportunity for a comprehensive advanced degree, anywhere in the world.

The Melton Centre for Jewish Education announces a new Masters Degree (M.A.) Program. The program is designed for professional educators able to spend a year of studies in Israel. The Melton Centre at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has designed a new individualized, multi-disciplinary academic program that will take place over the course of one calendar year.

The Melton Centre for Jewish Education represents the Hebrew University’s commitment to the advancement of Jewish education worldwide. For many years that commitment has included a focus on understanding and improving how Israel is taught in the Diaspora. This focus has seen expression in conferences, research projects, professional development programs, and curriculum development initiatives, all animated by a shared incentive to advancing the field of Israel education. In recent years, the Centre's work in this field has intensified in response to a widespread concern that younger Diaspora Jews are increasingly disconnected from the State of Israel. This intensifying work has, in turn, fostered insights, skills and institutional capacity at the Centre that is expected to bear on future projects.

The Senior Educators Program offers Jewish educators from all over the world a unique opportunity for professional development and personal enrichment. This 11-month program, conducted in Hebrew, takes place at the Melton Centre for Jewish Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and generous stipends for study and living expenses are awarded to all participants and their families. Participants from assorted countries and cultures, representing every stream of contemporary Jewish life, bring their varied professional backgrounds and diverse areas of expertise to the Program. Senior Educators explore innovative approaches to Jewish education, probe critical issues in Jewish thought and develop new skills to bring home to their communities. Over 300 Jewish educators have graduated from the program.
