Parallel Traces: New EU-Funded Jewish Heritage Project Aims to Promote Awareness through Digital Art
A new, EU-funded Jewish heritage project, Parallel Traces: A New Lens on Jewish Heritage, aims to encourage awareness of urban Jewish heritage through digital art — photographs, audio and visual presentations, and the like. The project, its web site states, “aims to rediscover traces of Jewish cultural heritage in urban architecture as an integral part of European history and to raise awareness and respect amongst different cultures through different mechanisms.”

International Student Writing Competition: Poems and Short Stories on “To Choose the Light, "Livchor Baor"
The International Forum of Hebrew Teachers as an Additional Language is continuing its annual tradition, by conducting a writing competition for students around the world this year on the topic: “To Choose the Light, "Livchor Baor". The competition is sponsored by the Hebrew Writers Association.

Etgar, which organises the annual general Jewish knowledge challenge for UK primary schools, has launched a new venture for secondary school pupils. Its first quiz on Israel, aimed at 14-year-olds in year nine, will take place on Yom Ha’atzmaut next month as part of the celebration of Israel’s 70th anniversary.

MOFET International Writing Competition for Students of Hebrew as an Additional Language on the Theme of "A Ray of Light in the Dark"
Every year before Chanukah, the International Forum for Hebrew Teachers organizes a Hebrew writing competition for Hebrew students on the subject of "Or - Light". This year, we decided to “shine our countenance” on a wider audience of Hebrew learners, also receiving works from students whose teachers are not members of the forum. In addition, the competition was held for the first time in cooperation with the Hebrew Writers' Association, and for the first time prizes were also awarded. The works were sent from around the world (including Israel), and the best were chosen by professional judges, members of the International Forum of Hebrew Teachers.

The The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood Studies (ISJPS) is dedicated to education that cultivates an informed and active sense of belonging to the Jewish people. Thousand-strong Crowd Sees Three Overseas Winners Crowned at Annual “My Family Story” Contest at Museum of the Jewish People
On Friday, June 9, 2017, over 1,000 people lined up at The Museum of Jewish People at Beit Hatfutsot, as its Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood held the 22nd annual international competition to mark the culmination of its flagship project, My Family Story.

My Family Story is one of Beit Hatfutsot’s most innovative flagship programs. Young participants in Israel and worldwide Jewish communities, embark on a meaningful, personal, and experiential, multigenerational Jewish heritage project. Through personal research and inspiring creativity the students produce an art display illustrating their families’ roots and connection to the greater story of the Jewish people. The International School for Jewish Peoplehood Studies (ISJPS) at Beit Hatfutsot recently held a festive ceremony on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the program. Over 600 students and their families, from Israel and around the world, celebrated the culmination of the annual Manuel Hirsch Grosskopf International Competition. 170 Jewish institutions involving over 20,000 Jewish youth in 25 countries participated in the competition.

The Atid Day Day School Innovation Challenge is an online platform designed to celebrate creative teachers and share their groundbreaking classroom ideas with the world. The platform, will serve as both a competition hub and a living archive of classroom innovations. For the originators of this project – the PresenTense Group, the Jewish Education Project, and the UJA Federation of New York – the long-term vision extends far beyond the challenge itself. Their mission is to foster systemic implementation of innovations and educational best practices within Jewish day schools in the NYC metropolitan area.

The Norman E. Alexander Award for Excellence in Jewish Student Writing is seeking essays on the American Jew the writer most admires and who has made significant contributions to humanitarian causes, social justice, medicine or science. The contest subject relates to the 2014 theme of American Jewish Heritage Month, “American Jews and Tikkun Olam, Healing the World.” The annual contest is sponsored by Fresh Ink for Teens (FIT), the Jewish-American Hall of Fame and The Jewish Week Media Group.
