Upon the launch of a new strategic plan for BBYO, Inc., the largest pluralistic Jewish teen movement, the Jim Joseph Foundation of San Francisco announced that it will grant $1.9 million over three years to fund three new Jewish enrichment positions for the organization that currently reaches more than 31,000 teens annually. This partnership will enable BBYO to deepen the Jewish experiential learning offered to its teen-led community and prepare Jewish teens for a lifetime of Jewish involvement.

The Ptil Tekhelet Organization offers marine snorkeling tours at the Dor/Nachsholim beach in search of the 'hillazon' (marine snail) used to produce the ancient tekhelet dye in its local habitat. The tekhelet was used in the manufacture of tzitzit (fringes) in ancient times.

Rabbi Joy Levitt, the executive director of the JCC in Manhattan, shares her vision of a new model for Jewish supplementary education which would replace the traditional after-school Hebrew school mode,l which many students and parents see as highly unsuccessful in providing a Jewish education. Jewish day schools offer many experiences meant to foster the Jewish development of students. However, these experiences are at risk of being disconnected from one another, complicating a comprehensive approach to addressing issues of identity. This article uses a constructivist approach to identity development to frame the challenges posed by such a fragmentation. Observations of pluralistic Jewish day high schools are brought as illustrations. The author discusses an approach of scaffolded reflection as a way to integrate the identity—enhancing experiences in which a student participates.
