New Web Portal Provides Access to Historic Materials on Jewish Life in Poland
Authors: Backman Marjorie
A new Web portal, Jewish Life in Poland, is making directly accessible thousands of maps, photos, films and other everyday artifacts of what was once the largest community of Eastern European Jews before World War II. Little remains of that world, but the site’s creator, YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, once located in Poland but now in New York, has created a portal that presents a variety of documents, videos (from film), audio clips in Yiddish , Polish, Hebrew and Russian — all described in English.

Authors: Joseph Martin
Limmud has just launched Learning – a resource for Tikkun Leyl Shavuot in time for the upcoming chag, when there is a tradition to stay up all night learning, known as a Tikkun Leyl Shavuot. Compiled by the Limmud Chavruta team, it is Limmud’s first, downloadable Chavruta e-resource and an invitation to communities the world over to delve into Jewish texts with one or many partners on Shavuot, which begins Tuesday evening, June 3, 2014. Shavuot is also known as the Festival of the Giving of the Torah, hence the organic connection between Limmud, which means learning, and the holiday.

YU's Center for the Jewish Future’s #EmpoweredLearning Program Aims to Engage and Inspire Torah Learners
Authors: Yeshiva University Center for the Jewish Future
Rabbi Ari Sytner, director of Community Initiatives at Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future has designed and recently launched #EmpoweredLearning, where different YU scholars introduce profound and intriguing questions in a 10-minute video presentation, leaving viewers with sources and texts which will empower them to discover their own answers. During the week, participants can discuss the questions in an open online forum, until the following week when the presenter’s answer is revealed in three-minute video, followed by a new presenter posing a fresh set of questions. The project is centered on the Jewish holidays and it is only fitting that the first few installments are being released in the three weeks leading up to Shavuot.

50 Days of Israel - Thinking about Israel from Slavery to Sinai
Authors: Klass Dusty
As an iCenter Masters Concentration in Israel Education Fellow (say that five times fast!), I have been tasked with the awesome responsibility of creating something – a tool or resource – that can be used in the field of Israel education. For me, Israel education must be multi vocal and overflowing with stories. Thus, my project: an Omer-lengthed blog, through which a variety of people share, bkitzur (in short), their thoughts on Israel. My guest bloggers are invited to provide content (in a variety of media forms) on one of two questions: As we move from Passover to Shavuot, the Israelites travel further away from the slavery of Egypt and toward the moment of revelation at Sinai. Where are you in that journey in relation to your thoughts/emotions/feelings about Israel? What one story do you think every American kid should learn about Israel?

Authors: Goldstein Smadar
The JconnecT online Hebrew School program addressed the right of the Jewish People to their own state in its pre-Pesach session this year. The class is comprised of pre-teen and teenaged students from across North America who learn about Judaism and Israel online from their own homes. During the last session before Passover break the students discussed what it means to be free, what it means to lack freedom, and how that relates to the rights of the Jewish people to establish and run their Jewish State.
