Studio G-dcast Film Premieres – Talmudic Tales
Authors: G-dcast
Back in August, 12 young artists, storytellers, and programmers got together at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco and remixed Talmudic tales through original art. This week, we started rolling out their brand new Studio G-dcast collaborative films. So far, we’ve premiered “Waiting For Ewe” and “Fringe Benefits.” There are many more to come! Now, you can witness the fruits of their labor, or at least, some of the labor fruits. The Studio G‑dcast 2013 residents worked in traditional chevruta pairs for six days at the CJM to create new versions of ancient tales.

BJPA Reader's Guide: Environmental Issues
Authors: BJPA - Berman Jewish Policy Archive at NYU Wagner
With the imminent arrival of Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2013, we have collected a sampling of BJPA holdings that reflect and enrich the contemporary Jewish discourse on the environment. Jewish concerns for, and sense of sacredness for, the earth is a 4,000 year-old tradition, as old as Judaism itself. As human beings we have a compelling interest in caring for the only earth we inhabit, and as Jews we have contributed to compelling thinking about the environment, our responsibilities, and possibilities for action. A sampling of that thinking appears in this BJPA Reader's Guide to Environmental Issues, which we hope will promote this vital conversation.

You are invited to join together, with excitement and anticipation, as we ask: What might this Shmita year look like in today’s world and how can we best prepare for it? Bezalel Academy Online Catalogue
Authors: Bezalel Academy
The Bezalel Academy stands at the center of the cultural discourse associated with the country's artistic activity and plays a decisive role in the shaping of Israel's cultural identity. The Bezalel Catalog was established for the purpose of documenting and preserving the visual history of the Bezalel Academy and the creative output of Academy graduates, and creating a historic archive of the institution that would contain works created by the students during the various stages of their studies, to enable documentation and provide access to current activities at Bezalel. Every year, the Academy's extensive database is further enriched by current records of hundreds of new works from all of the departments at Bezalel: Architecture, Industrial Design, Ceramic & Glass Design, Jewelry & Fashion Design, Photography, Fine Arts, Screen-Based Arts, Visual Communication as well as from the higher degree programs in fine arts, industrial design and urban design.

Israel’s National Library Ingathering and Digitizing the Diaspora’s Rare Hebrew Books
Authors: Ben Zion Ilan
Last week, the National Library, on the campus of the Hebrew University at Givat Ram, Jerusalem, took a major step forward in digitizing and storing all of the world’s Jewish texts by reaching an agreement to produce high-definition images of one of the world’s premier collections of Judaic manuscripts. The National Library and Italy’s Biblioteca Palatina in Parma signed a deal to convert centuries of parchment and paper Hebrew documents to high-quality digital files which will be available to Israeli scholars. A selection of those files will be uploaded to the Internet for general access.
