New Online Learning Center Launched to Enhance Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Synagogue Programs

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and the Ruderman Family Foundation have launched the URJ Ruderman Disabilities Inclusion Learning Center, an innovative and interactive online resource center. A key element of the far-reaching URJ Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Initiative, this pioneering learning site, open to all, offers visitors the information and strategies to develop truly inclusive congregations where everyone can fully participate in and contribute to Jewish communal life and learning. An equally important goal of the site is to decrease the stigma and misconceptions surrounding disabilities.

A Multi-Dimensional Look at Different Strategies for Teaching Chanukah

In a recent discussion on the Jewish Educator's JedLab Facebook Forum, participants actively debated different approaches to teaching Chanukah. Many posters suggested exclusive approaches that negated other possibilities. Leaving aside the question of the veracity of the traditional Chanukah narrative, JETS Israel addresses this issue by bringing a variety of themes and approaches to students and their families as the Jewish world prepares to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

Israel Antiquities Authority Steps into 21st Century with Smartphone Game That Shows Off Holy Land’s Archaeological Treasures

Dig Quest, available for iPhone and iPad (Android on the way) devices, lets kids assemble puzzles, search for ancient artifacts, and thumb through the Dead Sea Scrolls to discover Israel’s hidden treasures.

Torah Meets BuzzFeed in Fun New Email Blasts

“LifeHacks From My Grandparents” is a new website and email listserve that presents a modern spin on Jewish teachings, a toe in the water of Torah study to get at the essence of each portion for all who might benefit. The project, a collaboration between Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute and Torah Topics for Today, reimagines the lessons of the Old Testament as modern life hacks that people can implement to improve their own lives.

New Partnership Aims to Expand Schools in Experiential Jewish Genealogy Program

Why Mechon Hadar’s New Website is a Big Deal

Founded less than a decade ago, Mechon Hadar, or Hadar for short, is the umbrella institution of the celebrated halakhic egalitarian Yeshivat Hadar. Hadar just updated its website and it’s not just another institutional facelift. After eight years of growth, Hadar has created a treasure trove of Torah resources, and now it has chosen to share them, intentionally. With very few exceptions, all of Hadar‘s resources are now shared with an Open Content license.

Mobile App Aims to Keep Things Kosher, in Israel and Abroad

Israel Antiquities Authority Website Displays Israel’s Archeological Artifacts

In its efforts to make Israel’s archeological artifacts available around the world and to share Israel’s archeological artifacts with the world, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) created the National Treasures Online website. The website shows off a selection of thousands of objects from the collection of the National Treasures. The National Treasures range from one million years ago to the Ottoman period. The site currently has approximately 5,700 artifacts and is continuously updated. In addition, new hi-resolution images of artifacts and new information are added to the site on a regular basis.
