'Sefaria' Open Source Online Jewish Text Site Could Expand Jewish Learning

The Sefaria Project is about building the future of Jewish learning in an open and participatory way. Sefaria is building a free living library of Jewish texts and their interconnections, in Hebrew and in translation. Its scope is Torah in the broadest sense, from Tanakh to Talmud to Zohar to modern texts and all the volumes of commentary in between. Sefaria is created, edited, and annotated by an open community.

Animating the Talmud: Studio G-dcast Videos Bring Together Animators and Storytellers to Put a Modern Spin on Ancient Jewish Texts
Last August, a group of young Jewish artists gathered at San Francisco’s Contemporary Jewish Museum to write, record, and animate the short films illustrating famous Talmud tales. Over the course of one intensive week, the participating animators and storytellers, many of whom were encountering the Talmud for the first time, brought to life six of the Babylonian Talmud’s best-known tales.

NY High School Houses Hands-On Holocaust Museum

Founded in 1978 by legendary social studies teacher, Mr. Stuart S. Elenko, the Bronx HS of Science Holocaust Museum is one of the oldest Holocaust Centers in the United States, predating the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park and the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. From 1978-2009, the museum was housed in a small room off the library within the school building. Thanks to the generosity of Bronx Science Alumni, the museum celebrated its grand re-opening on April 19, 2013.

The Sephardi Voices History Project Collects Testimony from Jews Who Fled Arab Lands after Israel Was Founded

Sephardi Voices, is an audio-visual history project currently under way to document and archive the testimonies of Jews displaced from North Africa and the Middle East in the 20th century. With branches in Los Angeles, Miami, London, Paris, Jerusalem, and New York, Sephardi Voices has already collected 250 testimonies and is aiming to gather 5,000 in the next five years.

My Jerusalem: A New Hebrew Website for Children Launched

Jerusalem Memories – Based on Google Street View

Taking advantage of Google's release of Jerusalem Street Views in April, 2012, the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) launched a website, Jerusalem Memories, to allow collecting and sharing personal memories and images of Jerusalem. The site now contains numerous personal memories of Jerusalem inspired by the Google Street View images.

Online Encyclopedia of the Ghettos

The Yad VaShem International Holocaust Research Institute has launched the Hebrew online edition of the Ghetto Encyclopedia, containing over 1,100 entries, encompassing the history of all Jewish ghettos across Nazi-occupied Europe during WWII. The English edition of the encyclopedia, written by Prof. Gai Miron and Shlomit Shulhani of the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem, was published in October 2009 and was later translated into Hebrew.
