Legacy Heritage Fund is proud to announce the launch of the Legacy Heritage Emergency Fund for Jewish Education. Consistent with the mission of Legacy Heritage Fund to support Jewish education, the Legacy Heritage Emergency Fund for Jewish Education will enable schools to assist families committed to Jewish education to keep their children in schools despite significant financial difficulties due to the current economic environment.

Schools may apply for Legacy Heritage Emergency Fund for Jewish Education under the following circumstances:

  • School is located in small or medium sized Jewish community.
  • Day schools with any combination of grades 6-12 are eligible to apply by April 30, 2009.
  • Community/Hebrew schools with grades 8 and up are eligible to apply by August 3, 2009.
  • Families presently in the school have experienced a significant change in employment status, e.g., one or both parents have lost their job or were significantly downgraded.
  • Families have expressed the need to withdraw from the school due to inability to pay tuition for the coming school year.
  • Families have a documented need for assistance, e.g., they are receiving financial aid from the school already.

Funds will be provided to schools, not families. Schools receiving funds will be responsible for submitting appropriate documentation regarding the distribution of funds and the families receiving assistance.

Schools located in the metropolitan areas of Chicago, Los Angeles and tri-state New York are ineligible for funds.
