The Gandel Holocaust Studies Program for Australian Educators is a year-long professional program aimed at training a cadre of expert teachers who are active throughout Australia. The objective of the Gandel Program is to form an active and organized network of Australian educators committed to teaching about the Holocaust and its universal implications, using an interdisciplinary and age-appropriate approach.

Teachers applying to the 2010 Gandel Holocaust Studies Program for Australian Educators will be carefully chosen by an Advisory Committee, through competitive selection, for their potential to become leaders in Holocaust education in Australia.

In addition to nominating the successful candidates to participate in the Gandel Program, the Advisory Committee will also offer different scholarships available for the Program, including ten full scholarships from Yad Vashem supported by the Gandel Charitable Trust.

The first stage of this new program will be a seminar for Australian educators at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, January 10-22, 2010.
