Dedicated to the revival of European Jewish culture, Paideia was created in 2001 through foundational grants from the Swedish government and the Wallenberg foundation.

Its main program is a highly intensive One Year Jewish Studies Program taught by world-renowned Israeli faculty.

Each fellow must complete a project or professional apprenticeship in one of four tracks during the stay at Paideia; Academic, Artistic, Jewish Professional, or Lay leaders track. Relevant seminar courses and supervision is given by track leaders.

Religious Profile

Paideia’s religious profile is pluralistic and non-denominational.
Students and faculty range from orthodox to secular, including conservative, reform, and cultural Jews.

The studies at Paideia are tuition free. Students will be candidates for student dormitories provided by Paideia and stipends meant to free them from work while participating in the program. Paideia's number of scholarships is limited.
