The program intends to supplement Israel program curriculums by providing a forum for interdisciplinary study, dialogue, and camaraderie amongst a select group of students. By exposing participants to a range of perspectives from public intellectuals and thinkers, they hope to help develop the next generation of thoughtful and learned Jewish leaders.

Onward Israel: Bringing Young Adults Back to Israel Through An Entrepreneurial Start-Up

Onward Israel has begun its second year of operation this month, bringing over 500 students on 22 programs from around the world to Israel, with the goal of eventually reaching thousands annually. The ultimate purpose of Onward Israel is to exponentially increase the number of Taglit and teen programs alumni who return to Israel for a transformative identity-building second visit, eventually reaching a stage where such experiences are available to all who want them and become a rite of passage for Jewish young adults throughout the Jewish world.

New Israel Engagement Models for URJ Camps

Five years ago, URJ Camps launched an Israel education and advocacy initiative with the generous support of the Legacy Heritage Fund. Partnering with the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s School of Education on the New York campus, the iCenter and MAKOM, the URJ worked to develop strategies, curricula and an evaluation processes to reimagine, enhance and deepen the presence of Israel at URJ camps.
