Empowering Jewish Youth to Respond to Anti-Semitism

Last week, over 700 Jewish teens from across the United States and Canada gathered in Baltimore, MD as part of United Synagogue Youth’s International Convention. The Anti-Defamation League participated in the convention as a program partner to educate and empower the students to respond to anti-Semitism. At a time when global anti-Semitism is on the rise, college campuses are rife with anti-Israel bias and Jewish youth regularly hear insensitive comments about Jews and Judaism, this work is more important than ever.

How to Teach the Holocaust in Formal and Informal Jewish Education: A Free Yad Vashem Summer Seminar for Educators

We want to offer you an in-depth ten-day seminar for Jewish educators in English on July 19th-28th, 2016 at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, Israel. The International School for Holocaust Studies has developed this special seminar for educators to acquire the necessary skills to teach students of all ages about Jewish history and the meaning of the Holocaust for the present and the future, according to our age-appropriate and interdisciplinary methods. The seminar's costs are fully covered by Yad Vashem and include the seminar, a hotel, meals and tours in Jerusalem. The only expense of the teachers is the airfare and the transportation from the airport.

Limmud Conference Celebrates 35 Years

Limmud Conference, the global network’s flagship Jewish learning festival, is celebrating 35 years in a new location to accommodate record-breaking registration. More than 2700 participants, hailing from 28 countries will converge on Birmingham, two hours north of London, from 27-31 December 2015. The smorgasbord of sessions – over 1,100 in all – includes films, panels, and performances by Cockney Yiddish band Kat’shanes, and comedian Benji Lovitt, among others. In addition to Limmud Chavruta, Daf Yomi, and Bible scholarship, sessions will examine “Contemporary Anti-Semitism – How real is the threat?,” “The Vodkas of Eastern Europe, ” and “From Skyfall to Spectre – the new James Bond Midrash.”

Yahad, Bringing Estonia’s Jewish Community Together

The ninth annual Jewish forum, “Yahad” (“All Together”) took place in Pärnu, Estonia on October 9-11, 2015. It was one of the most exciting community events of the year, which gathered Jewish people of all ages and from all across the country. Four hundred and seventy people have participated in Yahad 2015, among them around 70 children. This year, the traditional format of the Yahad forum was maintained with lectures, concerts, discussions, workshops and classes for children available during the course of the forum. At any given time during the forum’s program, there were numerous scheduled events taking place simultaneously, and participants were able to choose which topic is the most interesting to them.
