Join NewCAJE 5 at Sinai Temple and lodging at UCLA dorms on August 10-13, 2014. Register now for conference early registration and for the optional pre-conference Shabbat, Aug. 8-9 at UCLA Hillel. NewCAJE conferences bring together all those involved in the transmission of Jewish education and culture. Participants come from most states and many countries. They represent every stream of Judaism and they teach every age group. They are principals, teachers, professors, clergy, musicians, artists and storytellers from across the denominational spectrum. Sixth Annual International GISHA Conference - The Inclusion Capacity: Building Capacity for Inclusivity in Jewish Education

2014 Arthur and Rochelle Belfer National Conference for Holocaust Educators

Online Brainstorming Marathon to Plan the Future of the Jewish People Kicks Off Next Week

Dr. Beth Samuels High School Summer Program at Drisha Institute

High school students from around the world spend five weeks (June 29 - August 1, 2014) together, building their knowledge and friendships at Drisha Institute. Known as the Dr. Beth Samuels High School Program, it provides young women with an opportunity to immerse in the study of classical Jewish texts, including Tanakh, Talmud, Halakha and Philosophy. Students live together and engage in both academic and social activities throughout the month.

Moving the Needle at the RAVSAK/Pardes Day School Conference

Over five hundred day school educators, lay leaders, and administrators gathered in Los Angeles for “Moving the Needle: Galvanizing Change in Our Day Schools.” Hosted by RAVSAK and Pardes and geared toward Community and Reform schools, this day school leadership conference featured keynotes, workshops, networking opportunities, and “deep dives” into areas of field-wide interest. Several pressing areas affecting day schools attracted significant attention.

Reflecting on the Moving the Needle Conference

Yesterday was the end of the three-day Ravsak/Pardes Jewish Day School Leadership conference in Los Angeles which I attended. In fact, I actually stayed on a bit longer speaking with Ken Gordon of PEJE and JEDLAB fame engaging in a very thoughtful conversation about Jewish education, its present state, its future and ways to move the needle (the theme of the conference) in our schools and the field. I could not think of a better way to end the conference as it was the personification of my conference experience.

Limmud FSU to Commemorate Ariel Sharon in Belarus

Limmud FSU announced this week that the upcoming Limmud FSU conference in Belarus, planned for this June, will feature a special event in memory of the late Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon whose parents were born in Belarus. The conference is planned to take place in his father’s hometown of Brest and official representation from both the Belarus and Israeli governments is expected. According to Limmud FSU co-founders Chaim Chesler and Sandra Cahn, 700 Russian-speaking young adults from across Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and the Baltic states will attend.

Great Jewish Books Summer High School Program

The National Yiddish Book Center Great Jewish Books Summer Program brings together a select group of rising high school juniors and seniors on the campus of Hampshire College to read, discuss, argue about, and fall in love with powerful and enduring works of modern Jewish literature. Participants study with respected literary scholars, meet prominent contemporary authors, and connect with other teens from across the country. The 2014 program runs from Sunday, August 3 through Sunday, August 10. Every accepted participant receives a scholarship for the full cost of tuition, room, board, books, and special events.
