Largest Turnout Ever for 45th Association for Jewish Studies Conference

Over 1,200 professors and assorted scholars, teachers and other professionals converged on a Boston hotel conference center earlier this week to attend the 45th Annual Conference of the Association for Jewish Studies, the largest gathering in the organization’s history. Presentations on Jewish Identity and International Pop Music, a panel on using social media as a tool for Jewish history research and talks on Medieval Jewish Marriage and Kabbalah as Literature were among its 190 sessions.

Returning Soon to Your Computer: Limmud TV 2014

Arachim 6 – 6th European Conference for Jewish Educators: Innovation in Jewish Education

Over 100 Jewish educators from 25 different European countries attended the 6th Arachim Conference in Madrid on the November 17-19, 2013. Arachim, organized by the European Council of Jewish Communities (ECJC) and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), was hosted by the Jewish Community of Madrid, with the support of the Lauder Foundation. Arachim 6 encouraged the participants to connect and learn about Innovation in Jewish Education, giving rise to many new collaborative educational programs.

Solomon Schechter School of Queens to host Jedcamp on December 18, 2013

On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, Solomon Schechter School of Queens will be hosting a JedCamp style evening of participant driven learning. There is no cost to participate and a kosher dinner will be provided. We are looking for teachers, Ed tech coaches/integrators, principals and other administrators, parents, and students to share ways educational technology and/or social media has improved quality of learning for our children.The evening will include two sessions (one hour each) with dinner in between.

Tent - Encounters with Jewish Culture 2014

The Yiddish Book Center of Amherst, Mass. is launching a second series of weeklong seminars — called Tent: Encounters with Jewish Culture, focusing on Jewishness along with either creative writing, pop music, food, comedy or theater. Tent, a series of one-week seminars for twentysomethings, provides participants with the opportunity to explore aspects of modern culture through a Jewish lens and to delve into the vast, complex, and immediately relevant cultural side of their identity.

The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel - 2014

The program educates and inspires exceptional young Jews from diverse backgrounds to grow into leaders grounded in their Jewish identity and committed to social change.
