Jewish Federations of North America to Host 2013 General Assembly in Jerusalem

Thousands of Jewish community leaders from across the globe are preparing to convene in Israel for the Jewish Federations of North America’s General Assembly, Nov. 10-12, 2013 in Jerusalem. With 140 speakers – half of them women – from the political, philanthropic, business, religious and cultural worlds, the GA will gather over 3000 participants from 93 different communities across North America, Israel and Europe – including the heads of the Jewish communities of France, Hungary, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Belgium, Italy and the Czech Republic – to join the “Global Jewish Shuk: a marketplace of dialogue and debate.”

The Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) Conference has an Educators Track

We are pleased to announce that the upcoming Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) conference, December 7-8, 2013 at John Jay College in New York City, will feature an Educators' Track for Jewish educators working from pre-school through high school. The Educators’ Track will give us the opportunity to have difficult discussions about issues related to gender and sexuality, to hear from top educators in the field, to brainstorm with one another, and to take home tools to build more gender-aware Orthodox day schools.

Exploring The Past, Lvov JDC Education Conference Looks to The Future

More than one hundred fifty Jewish educators, community professionals, and volunteers from the former Soviet Union and Israel will gather in Lvov, Ukraine on October 13 to take part in the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s fourth annual Jewish Informal Education Conference. The four-day gathering on community-building and Jewish learning will engage participants in a variety of network-building opportunities, knowledge sharing workshops, and Jewish education best practices. They will also explore contemporary Jewish life in the former Soviet Union and the significance of the Galicia region to Jewish history.
