This free event takes place on Thursday, December 13 at 7pm and is hosted by the 14th Street Y. “Is Jewish Education Broken?” is presented by Speakers’ Lab, a new public programming initiative of the Posen Foundation, with Tablet Magazine and The New School for Public Engagement, Jewish Cultural Studies Program.

The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel - 2013

Every year, twenty-six outstanding North American teenagers are selected for The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel, which begins with a five week, expenses-paid summer in Israel. In their five weeks, the Fellows encounter the land and people of Israel, study Judaism and major issues in contemporary Jewish life, and learn about themselves and each other. Applications for the 2013 Fellowship are now available and must be submitted by January 7, 2013.

Join Hidden Sparks for the 2012-13 school year of Hidden Sparks Without Walls, an online audio conference accessible from home or school. The Hidden Sparks Without Walls initiative is designed to strengthen an educator's knowledge and practice in working with diverse learners. The program offers free short-term distance classes for teachers, educators and administrators in Jewish day schools and yeshivot, to give them the tools to enhance the ways in which children learn and behave. It also enables teachers across similar or diverse disciplines to share ideas, curricula, and talk about their practice.

A MOFET Webinar - The Playful Digital Learning in the School – the Promise and the Challenges: A Case Study of Scratch and Israeli Schools

This free webinar, to be held on November 28, 2012, 7 PM Israel Time, 12 PM EST led by Dr. Oren Zuckerman of the IDC Media Innovation Lab in Herzlia will present several case studies of Scratch workshops in Israeli schools, and discuss the promise and the challenges of working with Scratch in schools. Scratch was carefully designed at MIT Media Lab based on constructionist values, promoting playful learning through open-ended exploration, and encouraging children to create content that is meaningful to them.

The Steiner Summer Yiddish Program

The Steiner Summer Yiddish Program at the Yiddish Book Center offers college students a tuition-free, seven-week exploration of Yiddish language and culture. The program runs from June 9-July 26, 2013. The 2013 Steiner Summer Yiddish Program is open to all full-time college students under the age of 26, who are either at the beginning or in the second year of their Yiddish language studies.
