The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) will offer a new continuing education initiative for rabbis, in partnership with the Rabbinical Assembly (RA), as part of the 2012 Rabbinical Assembly Convention. JTS will present a special convention track titled Making Torah Relevant to Gen Next: You’re the App for That! This program will feature a multidisciplinary approach whose goal is to connect Generation Xers and Millennials with synagogues.

Yad Vashem is offering a unique seminar for English speaking educators from around the world to study at the International School for Holocaust Studies, Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, Israel between July 1 – July 19, 2012. The focus of the seminar is on teaching the Shoah and anti-Semitism.

During a week-long residency at the Yiddish Book Center on the campus of Hampshire College, eighteen high school juniors and seniors from across the country will study with some of the nation’s most respected literary scholars, meet prominent contemporary authors, and connect with other teens from across the country. The 2012 program runs from Sunday, July 29 through Sunday, August 5.

The participants in this special seminar will visit institutes of teacher education and ecological sites, and will be exposed to educational programs, to technological projects and to developments in the field of recycling. They will experience first-hand what is being done in Israel about sustainability in education throughout the education systems, public campaigns, climate-related solutions and more, and will be exposed to the joint effort being made to effect a change in the public’s awareness about the need for sustainable development in environmental, social, political, and technological arenas.
