The David Project Teacher Training Institute - 2012

47th Annual Association of Jewish Libraries Convention

Jewish Version of TED Talks Launched

A new project modeled after the famous TED Talks, dubbed “ELI talks” (for Engagement, Literacy, Identity), comes to New York on May 14, with five 10- to 12-minute talks presented at the JCC Manhattan by Etta Abramson, a Jewish educator, actor and singer; David Bryfman of the Jewish Education Project and an expert of Jewish adolescent identity; Daniel Libenson, head of a new Jewish think tank with an expertise in innovation; Nessa Rapoport, a writer and foundation officer who speaks frequently about Jewish culture and imagination; and Rabbi Ethan Tucker, co-founder and rosh yeshiva at Mechon Hadar.

YouthCon 2012 – Informal and Experiential Jewish Educators Convention

YouthCon was created by the Orthodox Union to enable informal and experiential Jewish educators to network, inspire and learn from one another's leadership roles. YouthCon is open to educators of all backgrounds. YouthCon 2012 will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Stamford Hilton, Stamford, CT. Last summer, more than 500 professionals and volunteers, representing more than 160 organizations that represent over 75,000 Jewish youth across the Jewish spectrum attended YouthCon 2011.

Paideia European Project Incubator - 2012

Learning from Taglit-Birthright Israel: An Academic Symposium

This first-of- its-kind academic conference to be held at Brandeis University on May 23-24, 2012, will explore what scholars, practitioners, and policy makers have learned and can learn from Taglit-Birthright Israel, the largest single educational program in the Jewish world today. The goals of the conference are to expand the number and variety of scholars and public policy intellectuals engaged in the examination of Taglit, to explore Taglit as a social experiment in educational innovation, and to review and integrate current knowledge on a wide variety of substantive issues.

Tikvah Summer Institute at Yale University

Applications are being accepted for an intensive three-week seminar on “Jewish Thought and the Good Society: Politics, Economics and the Human Person,” which will be held from June 25 - July 12, 2012 at Yale University in New Haven, CT. The seminar is designed to explore ideas of the most important classical and modern thinkers, Jewish and Western, on the subjects of authority, virtue, justice, freedom, membership, and a just and humane political economy. The program is open to current high school juniors, high school seniors, and recent graduates of Jewish day schools in North America.

MOFET Annual Educational Technology Conference 2012 – A Touch Away: The Information in the Class at Your Finger Tips

Hundreds of conference participants heard presentations that examined the numerous opportunities of utilizing these tools to enhance and transform the education scene, and on the other hand, ways to avoid the educational and developmental pitfalls that they present.
