A Teachers Video Guide to Creating and Using a Facebook Study Group

G-dcast Entertainment Launches 'Leviticus!' Apple Mobile Game

A new branch of G-dcast, G-dcast Entertainment, has just released a new 'edutainment' game for Apple Mobile devices – 'Leviticus!'. While playing the fast-moving brightly illustrated game, the players learn much of the intricate Biblical Jewish law system for offering sacrifices in the Temple. 'Leviticus!' was made with young adults in mind and the plan is to market the new game to college-age students through Hillel and Moishe Houses.

Influx of Ipads Adds to High-Tech Trend in New Jersey Day Schools

Larry Yudelson writes about a technology revolution taking place in New Jersey day schools thanks to a donation of about 500 iPads to three schools, equipping their entire sixth or ninth grades. Dan Fried, a local chemist, has jumpstarted technology in Bergen County classrooms by funding iPads for students in three Paramus yeshivot — elementary schools Yeshivat Noam and Yavneh Academy, and a high school, the Frisch School.

Holograms of Holocaust Survivors To Preserve Witnesses' Testimony for Posterity

As the aging Holocaust survivor population dwindles, University of Southern California scientists hustle to create life-size 3D holograms that can answer viewer questions through natural language technology. New Dimensions in Testimony, a collaboration between the USC Shoah Foundation and the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, in partnership with Conscience Display, will yield insights into the experiences of survivors through a new set of interview questions, some that survivors are asked on a regular basis, plus many of which have not been asked before.

Behrman House to Launch Online Library for Jewish Schools in Partnership with Israel’s Center for Educational Technology (CET)

Online Learning in Jewish Day Schools - State of the Field Survey

The AVI CHAI Foundation is pleased to share a baseline report on the state of online and blended learning in Jewish day schools during the 2011/12 school year. AVI CHAI launched an online survey during the 2011/12 school year to gather information about the depth and breadth of online course offerings throughout Jewish day schools in North America. This was the first survey of its kind and it will be repeated periodically to measure the adoption of online learning in day schools.

International Corporation Selects MJGDS to Design Video Game

The MJDS is pleased to announce that Jewish Interactive educational software company will be embarking on a joint project with the Martin J. Gottlieb Day School of Jacksonville, Florida, where students will be designing from the ground up an educational Chanukah video game. Jewish Interactive will then select the best game design and actually build the software, to be released in advance of next Chanukah for use in their current network to more than 50 elementary schools around the world.
